The Penny Farthing Guinness World Record Breaking Weekend Extravaganza

11th – 13th October 2024

@ Herne Hill Velodrome / Dulwich Park / London Olympic Velodrome

Probably the greatest gathering of Penny Farthing riders in London since the 1880’s, this event is a once in a lifetime opportunity to celebrate the origins of the bicycle, to participate in a unique sporting occasion and to enjoy a wonderfully eccentric British Victorian weekend at some of cycling’s most iconic venues.

Organised by the Penny Farthing Club and supported by the Pickwick Bicycle Club, The League of Ordinary Riders, TallyHo! and many other influencers, this is a weekend packed with activities including multiple Guinness World Record attempts, a track racing tournament at Herne Hill Velodrome, ceremonial riding around the London Olympic Velodrome, social riding around Dulwich Park and a Victorian dinner with top hats etc.

Some of the world records attempted during the weekend will include:

The fastest speed on a Penny Farthing bicycle

The largest Penny Farthing Stack (131 + riders)

The furthest distance in one hour (Solo Female) *

The furthest distance in one hour (Historic Female team record)

The largest number of Penny Farthing riders in a velodrome race

Members of the Penny Farthing Club already hold the following Historic and Guinness World Records:

The furthest distance in one hour (Solo Male)

The furthest distance in one hour (Historic Male team record)

The fastest journey from Lands End to John O’Groats

The fastest speed on a Penny Farthing with ‘No Hands’

The furthest distance over 10 km with ‘No Hands’

The furthest distance in one hour with ‘No Hands’

Our goal is to create an event that unites cyclists from all disciplines – road, mountain biking, track, and others – to celebrate the origins of cycle racing. We’re looking forward to a weekend filled with fun, camaraderie, and a shared passion for cycling.

No need to stress if you’re not familiar with riding a Penny Farthing; there will be activities and opportunities for everyone to participate, such as the Penny Farthing Stack.
